Wow another update and it is dramatically different than the last one!
Life since my last blog has been a ride through a dense jungle - that's what it seems like anyway!I have been riding along chopping through decisions, questions, direction and purpose. Right now Kenya is still a country that is in turmoil. They are in the middle of reaching a compromise of sorts, but that process is very slow moving. The violence seems to have calmed down a bit and the people are slowly returning to normal life again.
How ever define normal. Many famiies are broken apart - many children are orphaned and many husbands and wives are widowed. Food is still hard to obtain and very basic physical needs are hard to meet. Kenya is living in not only a crisis state, but a broken state. People who had next to nothing now have absolutely nothing and are trying to rebuild their lives. Please continue to pray for the people of Kenya. It is hard for me to fathom having my normal comfortable life flipped upside down and stability ripped from my grasp. There is no certainty there yet and the people need crazy encouragement and prayer.
So next on the list for updates - I am still praying about Kenya. God could do crazy things and re-open that door, but in the mean time I am now pursuing a new direction with AIM. Back in 2006 I was on an FYM (first year missonary) team with AIM in South Africa. I am really praying and starting to pursue working with the FYM team in Jeffrey's Bay, South Africa this fall. It would be 9 months (September 08 to May 09). I would be leadership on the team and work in ministry with my team. FYM is a great program. Nothing is official yet, but please pray with me as I seek God in this next step of ministry.
Just a note - thank you to all of my supporters for being faithful to pray for me, support me and stand by me in this transition. I covet your prayers! God is using you in my life in a great way! Thank you!
So more to come soon, but for now pray that God gives me great direction in this next decision. And really pray that as I go through this process that every time you look at me you will see Jesus in my decisions, my heart, motives and my life!
